Webinar survey reveals top concerns

A Twenty7tec survey undertaken as part of our brand-new Elevate webinar series has revealed the main concerns of advisers and lenders for the year ahead.

The survey — which polled more than 250 people as part of the launch episode Less regulation, more opportunity? — asked respondents if they believed less industry regulation would present a risk to advisers, or an opportunity for growth. The results show that a majority of 55.5% said they believed less regulation would not present a risk to advisers, but rather a chance of opportunity and growth.

We also asked those surveyed to name the top concern for the year ahead in relation to their business, with 18% of those polled naming the current economic climate and interest rates as the primary challenge. Growth and volume, and legislation, regulation and policy featured in joint second place with 11% of the vote. Nine per cent of respondents named concerns over time management and administrative issues, while 7% said market inconsistency and uncertainty was the biggest worry.

Importance of records and clarity

Twenty7tec’s David Wressell, senior manager and host of the Elevate webinar series, said the insights from the survey, along with points discussed during the inaugural episode, identified both challenges and solutions.

“Regulatory specialist Chris Croft was speaking during the webinar about decisions by the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS). He noted that one common issue identified from those decisions, whether a provider or adviser, is the importance of clarity of communication and maintaining accurate records of communications.

“It’s reassuring to know that this continues to be an important consideration for advisers, as our platform is designed for that specific need. Advisers using our platform benefit from a host of tools to make their working practices easier — including those to facilitate more efficient, accurate administration.”
